The project began with a simple premise: associates of Stewart Title Guaranty Company's independent agencies were asked to watch four videos to learn more about our products and services. In turn, Stewart donated $20 for each unique video viewing. The response was enthusiastic - over 1,900 of our policy-issuing agencies watched the videos triggering $37,675 in total donations! And, over the last three years, we have generated a total of approximately $125,000 in total donations to support U.S. troops.
An optional donation page allowed agency employees, Stewart associates and others to give more funds to Helping a Hero; individual donations totaled $5,480 of which Stewart matched $4,195. We want to thank each and every one of you who made a personal donation to Helping a Hero on behalf of our Community of Sharing campaign.
We are truly grateful to all the agencies that supported this effort by watching videos and making donations of their own.
A national non-profit organization founded in 2004, Homes for Our Troops builds specially adapted homes for service members nationwide who have returned home with life-altering injuries post 9/11. The homes they build are specially adapted to each veteran’s needs and provided mortgage-free, which enables the veteran to focus on their recovery and returning to their life’s work of serving others.
Homes for Our Troops has received Charity Navigator’s highest rating of 4 Stars every year since 2008. Charity Watch has awarded HFOT an A rating and included us on its list of Top-Rated Military & Veterans Charities. They have completed 165 specially adapted homes nationwide and currently have 40 Veterans on their active project list. Learn more about our charity partner here.
