Berks County Recorder of Deeds Offers FraudSleuth™, Powered by PropertyInfo Corporation, to Help Protect Constituents
HOUSTON (Oct. 11, 2011) – Berks County Recorder of Deeds helps to prevent fraud by offering FraudSleuth, powered by PropertyInfo Corporation (PIC),a Stewart company and leading provider of end-to-end records management solutions at no charge to property owners in Berks County.
FraudSleuth is an online tool developed for county clerks and recorder of deeds offices that allows property owners to protect themselves against possible fraud by doing a simple name search for any documents that might have been recorded against their name or property.
“With the increase in fraud, our office is excited to offer FraudSleuth as a tool to help protect our constituents,” said Frederick Sheeler, Recorder of Deeds Berks County. “Additional enhancements to FraudSleuth are expected to be available in early 2012 and will allow our property owners to take even a more proactive approach to protect themselves against fraud. The new enhancements will allow residents to register with us to receive an automatic email alert when a document is filed in their name. I am very happy that our computer systems provider, PropertyInfo, has made this valuable service available to Berks County residents at no additional cost to our taxpayers.”
FraudSleuth is a user-friendly tool for property owners to conveniently access official public records. Property owners can access FraudSleuth online through their participating county recorder of deeds offices. Users can conduct simple searches to review all activity under their name, and if suspicious activity is found, they can contact the county to request an additional investigation.
