Featuring the tallest turbines in the state, Community Wind South is a 3,000-acre, 30-megawatt wind farm located in Nobles County, Minnesota, northwest of Worthington. The energy from the project will be sold to Xcel Energy, Inc., dba Northern States Power Company®, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

While previous-generation towers in the area were approximately 262 feet, Community Wind South boasts 15 REpower MM92 turbines with 328-foot towers. Taller towers mean stronger winds, resulting in more energy and electricity for about 10,000 homes.

In addition to producing more clean, renewable energy, the project does not disrupt conventional land use. Farmers can still farm the land and do so in close proximity to the turbines. Plus, the Community Wind South wind farm benefits local landowners, as well as producing revenue for the community.
