Golden Triangle Mall, a 765,000 square-foot regional mall in Denton, Texas, has been in operation 30 years and is undergoing much-needed renovation. This retail landmark is anchored by Macy’s®, Dillard’s®, JCPenney® and Sears®, and features Barnes & Noble®, DSW® and a variety of other national retailers. The mall also benefits from its position in the market’s number one retail district. Despite these attributes, the mall had seen few upgrades and its advanced age was resulting in slowing sales and traffic.

The redevelopment of Golden Triangle Mall, currently under way, is designed to incorporate major interior and exterior improvements. Phase I includes interior upgrades such as wider, brighter skylights with colorful architectural features. There is also cove lighting, upgraded flooring and, most dramatically, a new Center Court, which will feature a park-like setting with a performance area and seating.

Phase II will feature towering new mall entrances with glass curtain walls and a colorful, contemporary design. The mall will also receive significantly upgraded new graphics and its first-ever food court, as well as new destination restaurants with patio dining.

The renovation is already having an impact. Mall sales are trending upward and the Dallas Business Journal honored the renovation with one of its “Best Retail Deal of the Year” awards in 2012.
