Established as a preschool in 1948, today St. Francis School educates 475 children from preschool to grade 12 and is proud to be the only progressive school in Kentucky.

The founding goal of this non-denominational, independent school was to fulfill the need for an integrated, co-educational school that provided an innovative learning environment. Through its two campuses, St. Francis School more than reaches this goal.

The locations and landscape of the two campuses vary greatly, symbolic of how children’s bodies, minds and spirits evolve as they grow. The Goshen Campus, educating children preschool through eighth grade, is situated in an area on the Ohio River Valley. The Downtown Campus is for high school students, and the building is a former YMCA® facility. It was built in 1912 and has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
Prior to 2012, the two schools were separate entities. As a strategic move, the schools were united. This enabled St. Francis to leverage the value of the two campuses, refinance the properties into one loan and use the equity to finance construction of a state-of-the-art gymnasium at the Goshen Campus, slated for completion August 2014.
