After decades of neglect, the Gunther Brewery complex has found new life as a residential development, The Gunther Apartments. The adaptive reuse of these historically significant buildings brings renewed vitality to the Brewers Hill neighborhood, so named for its historic association with the brewing of Baltimore beer.

The Gunther Apartments project encompasses five buildings with 162 apartment units housed in three of the five structures. There are 82 unique apartment floor plans. Of the five structures, one was built new on an existing elevated slab.

Another building housed the original boiler with its attendant smokestack, which has been renovated for retail use. The combined square footage for the residential and retail buildings is approximately 297,000.

The facades of the apartments were restored to the highest standards. The project includes landscaping, which incorporates an original horse stable’s wall, a green roof terrace, solar panels powering LED garage lights and lighting for all interior spaces, resulting in LEED® Gold Certification for the property.
