Oakfield Wind Project is a renewable energy project located on a site chosen to make use of its pre-existing commercial logging roads and infrastructure.
The wind farm will comprise of 48 wind turbines and a 59-mile generator lead line and will produce 148 megawatts of power. Its 50-mile transmission line will deliver enough renewable energy to power more than 62,000 homes.
The project’s developer, First Wind-SunEdison, is a global leader in renewable energy technology, power systems and clean-energy delivery, with locations in North America, Europe and Asia.
Its more than 1,000 worldwide operational sites provide electricity and services to residential, commercial, government and utility customers.
Along with its sustainability benefits – avoiding 160,000 tons of CO2 in the region – Oakfield Wind Project is expected to add approximately $14.7 million in tax revenues over 20 years and an additional $12 million in community benefits payments. The facility is expected to reach commercial operations by the end of 2015.
