Stewart Reports Record Revenues in 2005
Stewart Information Services Corp. posted an all-time high of $2.4 billion in revenue for 2005, an 11.4% increase over the previous year. The company’s pretax earnings for the year 2005 were $165 million, up 12.5% from 2004.
Fitch Ratings Releases Report on Title Industry, Expectations for 2006
Fitch Ratings published its Review and Outlook for the title insurance industry, with a look back at the title industry’s favorable results of 2005 and where it defied expectations by increasing revenue and profitability relative to 2004. Fitch’s report also looks forward to expected performance for the title insurance industry for 2006. Fitch expects the housing market to moderate significantly this year, and for the 30-year fixed mortgage rate to increase somewhat in the first half of 2006, but remain low in historic terms.
Stewart Tops List of Underwriters Named to Fortune List of Most Admired Companies
Stewart Information Services Corp. has been named to Fortune magazine’s annual list of America’s Most Admired Companies, landing as number four on the mortgage services industry list. Stewart was the highest-ranking title insurance company on the list, receiving high marks for its use of corporate assets and financial soundness.
