After several years of practicing real estate law, Karen joined Stewart Title Guaranty Company in 1998 and quickly began developing an impressive expertise in title work. She started with the company as counsel, business development and underwriting, then moved up to vice president, underwriting, and is now vice president, underwriting and legal, chief privacy officer for Stewart Title Guaranty Company’s operations in Canada. During her more than 15 years in the industry, she has gained extensive experience in Canadian commercial transactions and the Canadian component of multinational transactions.
Karen received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, and obtained her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario. She is a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations. She is also an active participant in the Stewart Title Lecture Series and has spoken at the Canadian Bar Association’s annual conference and the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Real Estate Summit. She also co-authored the title insurance chapter in the Canadian mortgage law textbook “Falconbridge on Mortgages.”
