This class will discuss line of credit/equity line deeds of trust from a claims perspective. We will discuss several “real” claims in terms of the root cause; what could have been done to prevent the claim; how the claim was resolved; and, the significance of the claim in dollars.

This webinar will address the issue of missed ownership interests and their effects by using real world examples from title insurance claim files. Topics discussed will include the various types of ownership interests, both common and uncommon, that might be encountered in a real estate transaction as well as tips for avoiding common mistakes.

This class will cover some of the more recent ALTA endorsement forms as well as changed that have been made to existing forms. Our discussion will focus on types of powers of attorney, how they are documented, issues of commencement of the powers and termination of the powers, and special problems encountered when we are confronted with proposed reliance upon these delegations of authority.

Discussing probate issues in the State of Washington, including lack of probate when the deceased’s estate is not being probated. It will include vesting of title, interests of heirs and devisees, authority of personal representative, probate and non-probate assets, community and joint tenancy property, discussion of requirements and exceptions from title.
Collyer Church --- Lack of Authority
This webinar will deal with the various types of entities that are involved with real estate transactions, and the sources within those entities of the authority of individuals to execute documents on behalf of the entities. Among the entities to be considered will be partnerships, limited partnerships, trusts of various types, corporations, non-profit corporations, limited liability companies and purported entities without adequate documentation. LPOs will also gain an understanding of how to recognize the various entities and what information may be gained about the entities from “outside sources”.

This class will focus on scams and fraudulent transactions dealing including warning signs and anonymous real life stories. Discussion will also include identifiable scams to be on the lookout for and how they are affecting the Title Insurance industry.

This webinar will give an overview of mechanic liens in the western states, recent changes in the law and significant case law. Discussion will also include pitfalls to look out for and avoiding claims relating to mechanic liens.
