Land Surveying, Titling and Registration

In conjunction with our work as an expert in land privatization, Stewart also provides the needed solution to bring regulatory reforms to fruition.

Real world application

Upon completion of initial privatization work in Moldova, the Land Project initiative was expanded to break up and privatize more than 550 former collective farms. Because of the break up of the state survey and title monopoly, production work was handled by 48 private Moldovan survey and title companies, utilizing 400 employees under more than 900 performance-based subcontracts. With Stewart's oversight, private Moldovan companies generated and managed all data and information systems.

Based on numerous legal and regulatory measures drafted, advocated and enacted through the efforts of Stewart International, parcel boundary and ownership rights are now legally validated and recorded at hundreds of local government offices and protected by Moldovan law. Stewart's complete solution helped 500,000 former collective farm members acquire land titles for 1.6 million parcels of land. The project is the largest, most successful land privatization, parceling and titling project ever done in a former Soviet Union state.
