The question is — why am I here and what do I have to say?
First, a little of my experience. I'm a third-generation real estate professional. I have been in and around the industry since I was in grade school. I had my first paying job in this business at the age of 10. I helped my Dad, a real estate broker, mortgage and escrow company owner and developer for 45 years, measure out five-acre parcels after he'd selectively logged the acreage. I loved it.
A month after returning from Viet Nam in 1967, my dad offered me a job learning the mortgage and escrow business. I was hooked. Since that time, I have worked in different facets of this industry. I've been a limited practice officer, a loan officer, an appraiser, a title insurance underwriter, a title company office manager and now Assistant Manager of Stewart Title of Kitsap County where my primary job is to make underwriting decisions for both title and escrow. I understand how our industry works. I've learned a lot over the years and I learn something more every day.
My goal with this column is to bring some of the knowledge I have to the real estate professionals who visit our site. Thanks for checking it out and if you have questions, please email them to me. I will answer your questions as it relates to the title industry, title insurance underwriting and the escrow side of the closing process, and post the most frequently asked ones here for future reference.
I never forget that nothing happens until a sale is made and that our customers write my paycheck. Thanks for checking out our site and I look forward to helping you with your questions and concerns.
