SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 18, 2006) – Benton County, Ark., has awarded a contract to Landata Technologies Inc. for Landata e-STAR Plus, a comprehensive Solution for Total Automation of Records (STAR) for county clerks and recorders, in addition to data warehousing and document conversion services.

“I’m really excited that this software will offer more opportunities for the county than we have had in the past,” said the Honorable Brenda DeShields, Benton County Circuit Clerk. “We are pleased about the size of the company, its long history in this business and the support they will provide us. It will be a great team to work with.”

As ex-officio county recorder, Circuit Clerk DeShields is responsible for recording deeds, mortgages, liens, surety bonds and other orders and instruments involving real property within the county.

The Benton County seat is Bentonville, headquarters of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which is the county’s largest service and retail employer. In addition, numerous Fortune 500 companies as well as smaller firms have a Benton County office to support their accounts at Wal-Mart.

The county’s 2005 population of 187,000 is nearly double its 1990 population.

“Landata’s e-STAR Plus system provides a complete recordation system, with the ability to handle cashiering, document imaging, indexing and public access, in addition to e-recording,” said Alan Cellura, president and chief executive officer, Landata Technologies. “We have seen incredible efficiencies in the counties where it has been installed, notably in Bexar and Harris counties in Texas, as well as other jurisdictions throughout the country.

“The data warehousing component of the system will enable both e-commerce and disaster recovery capabilities,” added Cellura.

Benton County plans a cutover to Landata by the end of first quarter 2007.
