HOUSTON (December 21, 2009) – “Save Yourself from Embarrassment – Why and How to Use Title Insurance in Cross Border Transactions,” co-sponsored by Stewart Title Guaranty Company (STG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp. (NYSE-STC), was held December 3, 2009, in New York City.
Leading experts from the title industry, including STG’s Mitch Creekmore, participated in discussions concerning the impact of title insurance on cross-border transactions, as well as the evolution of the title insurance policy in a number of jurisdictions outside the United States.

Based on the high number of sophisticated questions that were asked by the attending attorneys, it was obvious the topic was extremely timely and that the attorneys knew they were in the midst of title industry authorities on international real estate transactions,” said Bruce Hawley, senior vice president, senior underwriting counsel and multinational title services group manager for STG.
During the second half of the seminar, title and property possession issues in Latin America were discussed, along with the pros and cons of the various land registry systems throughout Latin America.
